About Malai Kitchen

4.4 / 5

from reviews

Malai Kitchen offers a modern approach to Thai and Vietnamese cuisine. Chef Braden Wages sources the freshest ingredients available to make as much as possible from scratch, including house-made curry paste, coconut milk, and sriracha sauce. Though the cuisine is inherently healthy, Braden takes it a step further by using only lean proteins—white chicken meat, beef tenderloin, and seafood. Since each dish on the menu is made-to-order, all can be modified to accommodate dietary preferences and intolerances. Half of the menu can made vegetarian and vegan friendly, while nearly all of the dishes can be prepared gluten-free.

It was good. Had halibut with some sort of coconut curry over the top, with jasmine rice and shrimp. The sauce was a bit funky colored (kind of pink) but don't judge by appearance, it was tasty. The home brew sampler flight was good. The sticky rice appetiser was also tasty. Came wrapped in banana leaf. Had a dipping sauce that wasn't very flavorful, but also didn't taste bad. we also had the muscles appetizer (really good sauce on that) and drunken noodles. My only criticism was the bourbon smash. It was way to fruity and sweet for me, I gave it to the wife. And the muscles meat inside the shell were tiny. Muscles we pick up at central market are twice as meaty. (Granted they may just be different species). Overall nice place, great waitress, very nice food. Good beer.

My Wife and I have been going to Malai for several years now. the very first time I went, I had no idea what to order. The person who took us the first time suggested the Drunken Noodles(top left) and I was willing to do so. I can vividly remember the flavors being so marvelous I’m my mouth, kinda like in the movie Ratatouille. The flavors combine in your mouth and each bite is magical.... I haven’t ordered anything else from Malai..... only the drunken noodles! It’s heavenly! In the from is the appetizer called the Vietnamese meatballs, it’s a sweet sausage.... so good! My wife like the Shrimp pad ti without the tofu. Overall, this place is amazing, a good place to go on a date night!

4.6 stars! I always really enjoy Malai. Every time I’ve come in, the staff has been friendly and attentive. Always felt like someone was available to get me whatever I needed. Overall, restaurant appears clean - although showing just a little bit of wear on booths, etc. As for the food, I’ve tried a couple of things, but I always seem to default back to the spicy basil chicken as my go-to with the white jasmine rice. The chicken is flavorful and has a good amount of spice, especially if you order a 4-5 (very spicy), and I like the selection of veggies. Sometimes I’ll ask for extra veggies, as there’s A LOT of rice in this dish. Definitely enough to leave you feeling full, especially at lunch, but not like you overate. Great location in a shopping center caddy-corner to the Town Square. Can’t really think of any major cons & have been here 20+ times.
